2002 - XPLORION - PITTSBURGH, PA

Xplorion is a unique exhibit located on the ground floor of The Regional Enterprise Tower in downtown Pittsburgh. Using the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission’s Geographic Information System, it enables visitors to explore the region’s abundant resources.
 
We are pleased to have partnered with Pittsburgh design firm ThoughtForm, Inc., formerly Agnew, Moyer, Smith, Inc., to design and fabricate Xplorion structures.
 
Our contributions include:
 
-Xplorion Quest, a spherical theater designed to take visitors on simulated flights anywhere in the region. Using satellite images one sees the geographical terrain, rivers, cities and towns appear and recede as in a real journey.
-Xplorion Invision, the wall containing a ten-screen array of high-definition plasma television displays portraying images of what it’s like to live, work, play and invest in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
-Xplorion Connect, three pairs of computer kiosks providing user-controllable access to over a thousand regional information resources.
